It is up to us as responsible dog owners to educate ourselves so that we may provide the best possible lives for our companions. An educated dog is a free and happy dog. It is free to play, free to socialize, free to explore, free to be a dog because it has learned self control and knows that there are rules and boundaries to live by. We really are the key to their life experiences and happiness. I believe that training your dog gives it the necessary tools needed to learn about the world he or she lives in. A trained and socialized dog is always a joy to have around. They truly enhance the human experience in ways that can’t be described with words alone and so its become my mission to help make this a reality for others. With over 10 years dog handling experience, I decided to further my understanding in dog training and certify myself as a dog trainer in the state of New York. I am a proud graduate of Anthony Jerone’s School of Dog Training where I became certified as a professional canine behavior specialist. Under the watchful eye of Anthony Jerone and his top instructor, Michael Mei of ABC's of Dog Training, they helped guide me in the right direction to turn a hobby into a meaningful and fulfilling career. It was here I learned the fundamental principles of dog training that broadened my understanding as well as deepen the passion I share for animals. This was truly an honor and a privilege to have had this experience there. I thank you both very much for being apart of my ongoing education! Michael Ellis as well as Bart Bellon are a few others that I consider great inpsirations to the field of dog training. The number one reason why dogs find themselves in shelters is due to lack of training. Millions of dogs are euthanized each year because of unmanageable behavior or aggression. Giving your dog an education will create a well behaved and balanced dog and most importantly, it will keep your dog safe! There are many dog trainers and training methods available. I believe that no single method is better than the next since each dog is different and will require personalized attention. Every dog has its own personality, lives in different environments, has their own individual experiences and thus needs personal attention when deciding the best approach. It is up to you to do your research and to find a trainer who understands these needs and one with whom you are comfortable with. Chris Alcontin's Practice Makes Perfect Dog Training goal is to help bring a better understanding as to how to have a balanced and fulfilling relationship with your dog.
